An Alberta man faces two counts of first-degree murder after a woman was found dead in a cold room in her Edmonton home.
The incident happened on the evening of July 24, 2017, around 3:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Alberta Coroners Service.
The woman, identified in court documents as Katelyn Hickey, was found in the bedroom with “a severe head injury, including blunt force trauma to the head, and severe bruising and abrasions,” the release said.
Police found the victim’s body in the bathtub of a second-floor apartment, where she was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Hickey was charged with first-and-second-degree criminal negligence causing death.
The man was not charged.
